What are "Criolla" grape wines like 🍇?

Criolla grapes are part of Argentinean history, they are descendants of the "Listån Prieto" that arrived with the Spanish between the 16th and 17th centuries and the Moscatel de Alejandría of Greek origin and brought to America by the Jesuits, long before the varietals arrived from Europe such as Cot (Malbec) or Cabernet Sauvignon that grew rapidly in the country.

Today there are several oenologists who vindicate Criolla grapes and produce wines that, for me, are very much adapted to the palate of the youngest who are looking for freshness, fluidity, and easy-to-drink wine. Let's not forget that our flagship white strain, Torrontés, is a Criolla 😍

INTA has been working on their classification and genetic analysis since 2011 and they have already identified some 50 new varieties. While this is happening, the wineries worked on presenting new wines that have these grapes as protagonists 🍇

In my post today I share with you a criolla wine launched by Jorge Rubio Winery @bodegajorgerubio produced from grapevines planted in 1960 in the town of Carmensa, General Alvear, south of Mendoza.

And you, have you tried any Criolla yet? How about? Which ones would you recommend? I read you 🤩
